"רחוב סמוציה בוורש היה מיקרוקוסמוס של החיים היהודיים בפולין בין שתי מלחמות העולם. בבתיו הצפופים התגוררו עשרות אלפי אנשים, שהרכיבו פסיפס רבגוני מבחינה מעמדית ואידיאולוגית. היו בהם שומרי מצוות, ציונים, אנשי ה"בונד", קומוניסטים ובעיקר - סתם עמך; סנדלרים ותופרות, משוררים ונשות רחוב. הרחוב שקק חיים. פעלו בו גם בתי כנסת וגם תיאטרון, בזאר, בתי קפה ועוד. סמוצ'ה: ביוגרפיה של רחוב יהודי בוורשה הוא ניסיון להקים לתחייה במילים רחוב יהודי בוורשה שנמחה לחלוטין בשואה. סיפורו מורכב כאן בשברי ידיעות השואבות מתוך עיתונות התקופה ומן הספרות, מתעודות, מעדויות שבעל פה ומתצלומים. זה סיפור היסטורי רב ממדי על התמורה הדרמטית שעברו תושבי הרחוב בחלקה הראשון של המאה העשרים. הספר הזה הוא גם מעין מדריך למטייל בוורשה של העבר, והקוראים מוזמנים לצאת אתו לטיול מדומיין או ליטול אותו לוורשה הנוכחית ולשלים במעט את החסד." -- כירכה אחורית.
