"אנו עדים בעת האחרונה למצב פרדוקסלי: מכל עבר מאדירים את "חובת הזיכרון" (ביחס לקורבנות השואה), ובה בעת היהודים ננזפים בשמה של אותה חובה. מצד אחד, בני התקופה מגייסים את חמלתם לזכר מקוללי אושוויץ; מצד אחר, חושדים ביהודים - במיוחד בישראל - שהם הופכים לכלי שרת את ייסוריהם מן העבר לטובת צרכים אידיאולוגיים וכספיים של ההווה. שם - היהודים קורבנות. כאן ועכשיו - הם נעשים בתורם אשמים ואף תליינים או שותפים לתליינים, כפי שאפשר לאמת מדי יום ביומו בסרטי התעודה ובפרשנויות שמעוררים האירועים במזרח התיכון. עיוות זה מתפשט והולך עד כדי ערעורן של כל צורות הרציפות היהודית. האם ריסוק הלגיטימיות בת-זמננו של אותה רציפות מבשר מתקפה חדשה על הקיום היהודי? במסה טורדת מנוחה זו, שמואל טריגנו חוקר את הפרדוקס הזה, את אותו היגיון מעוות הנוח להזיות המסוכנות ביותר. הוא חוזר למקורותיו הדתיים הסמויים של המערב, הפועלים בהתהוותו של אותו פרדוקס ובמיזוגו עם המיתוס הפלסטיני של השמאל. ניתוחיו יזינו ללא ספק דיון הנוגע, במידה שווה, לעבר דואב ולעתיד בלתי ודאי". -- מעטפת אחורית.
