"שתי בנות מ"משפחות טובות" הגדלות בירושלים של שנות התשעים עומדות במרכזו של רומן נועז זה, העוסק באלימות המחלחלת לחיי היום-יום בארץ. מורן בת החמש-עשרה, נערה מרדנית ויוצאת דופן, חיה חיים של בדידות עד שהיא פוגשת נער מבוגר שתפיסת המציאות המשונה שלו ורמזים למיניותו הסדיסטית מעוררים את סקרנותה. האהבה המיוחדת הנרקמת ביניהם סוחפת אותה למחוזות המעוררים בה ריגוש ופחד, ובינה לבין עצמה היא תוהה מתי יגיע הרגע שבו תגיד די. עפרי בת האחת-עשרה סופגת מכות מהבנים בכיתתה כעניין שבשגרה: הם משפילים אותה, חונקים אותה, זורקים אותה מאוטובוס נוסע. איש מן הסובבים אותה לא נחלץ להגנתה, וכולם אומרים לה שזו דרכו של עולם, ושתכף היא אפילו תתאהב באחד הבנים האלה. עפרי לא מאמינה שתתאהב אי פעם, אולם החיים מתכננים לה תוכניות אחרות. סיפוריהן של השתיים, שפגיעותן וחוסר האונים שלהן פוצעים את הלב, הולכים ונכרכים זה בזה עד לסופם המפתיע והמטלטל" -- מן המעטפת האחורית.
