"בתחילת החופש הגדול, אבא קונה לאיתן יומן ודורש ממנו לכתוב בו כל יום את מה שהוא מתכוון לעשות בחופש. אבא יודע שהחופש הגדול מביא איתו רק צרות ואומר ש"רק אם כותבים את השטויות לפני שעושים אותן, לא עושים אותן." אבא חושב שבזמן שכותבים - חושבים. וגם אם אנחנו לא חושבים, אז יש לנו אבא שחושב בשבילנו, וכשהוא יקרא ביומן ששטויות גדולות עומדות לבוא, הוא יחסל אותן עוד כשהן קטנות.איתן כותב יומן ומצליח להוכיח שיחד עם חברו דניאל, הוא מספיק לא רק לכתוב את כל השטויות אלא גם לעשות אותן.אבא רוצה לדעת איך זה קורה??? איתן חושב שזה בגלל שבין הרגע שכותבים ועד הרגע שעושים יש כזה מרחק קטן, שאי-אפשר להכניס לשם כלום, אפילו לא מחשבה! ולפעמים המרחק הזה הוא עד כדי כך קטן - שהשטות קורית הרבה לפני שמספיקים לכתוב אותה.וכשהחופש הגדול מתחיל ככה, קשה מאוד לדעת איך הוא יסתיים"--מן המעטפת האחורית.
