The Third Gathering of the Global Forum of the National Library of Israel will take place in Jerusalem on 17-19 March, 2019, focusing on "Migration-Borders-Identity". Discussions will address universal cultural, socio-political and philosophical issues, as well as their specific Jewish, Israeli and Zionist dimensions.

"Migrations and Cultural Identity" with Mark Lilla, Joseph Weiler, Majid Al-Haj, and leading scholars
"The Geopolitical Implications of Migration" with journalists Thomas Friedman and Mustafa Akyol; scholar Diana Pinto; senior economist Barry R. Chiswick; and former Israeli government minister Yuli Tamir

The Global Forum is a central element of the National Library of Israel's transformative renewal, as it opens access to its treasures as never before while positioning itself as a leading and vibrant cultural institution. Every two years, the Forum gathers together in Jerusalem some 80 prominent figures from Israel and across the world. It serves as a singular platform for contemporary discussions inspired by the Jewish, Israeli and universal intellectual traditions embodied by the National Library's collections, values, and vision. The Chairman of the Global Forum is renowned scholar Prof. Moshe Halbertal. Nobel Prize laureate Shimon Peres served as the Global Forum's founding honorary chairman.
